Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette - A Moment of Peace

It seems like as soon as Thanksgiving is over an explosion of holiday preparations ignites.  Today I'm enjoying looking at this peaceful picture taken on a walk in the park a few weeks ago and soaking up the calm.
Wednesday Vignette is hosted by Anna at Flutter and hum.  Click here to join in the fun.

  1. I'm with you, Peter - nature always sets me straight, calms my nerves, and adjusts my mind. After T-day, it took me 'til Sunday night to finally return to the store for some milk. The duck perfectly reflects actual reality, free of hype, and stress. As long as I can still seek out that kind of stillness, I will feel privileged.

  2. Beautiful. We have cut way back on the shopping aspect, really just a few gifts for family & close friends. But I still get that frantic feeling. Working on that. More walkabouts seems just the ticket. Thanks for the reminder.

    Cheers, Peter.

  3. Hold on to this peaceful duck image. Once the madness starts its more like 'Duck-and-Cover'...

  4. I just read another calming post, that reminded me of being patient. I think the universe is sending me a message. Slow down and enjoy each step in the holiday preparation.

  5. You know I love duck photos! Trying to get holiday things done early while I have energy, the weather is good and the stores are not too crowded.

  6. Ah. what a lovely photo! I hope everyone manages to find many peaceful moments this holiday season. It's a challenge. I scaled my holiday activities way back in past years, almost to the point of non-celebration, which left me feeling a bit sad. Now I'm trying to find the right balance of activity. We buy very few presents and stay away from stores as much as possible, but I've started baking (not good for my waistline, but it's only once a year).

  9. The news is so awful, we all need a sense of calm these days. The photo does it. Thank you!
