Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette

Everyone seems happy about fresh spring greens!

Seeing this little cutie just beyond the Wells Medina Nursery parking lot was an unexpected surprise. It's always a delight to see bunnies in other people's gardens.

This brought to mind a poem by Magical Mystical Teacher.  It's reprinted here with her kind permission. To see more of her poetry and fabulous images from her Sonoran Desert region, click here.

Let us praise the raven and the rain.
Let us praise the singer and the song.
Let us praise the Cloud Spirit,
leading us to other roads when our path is hedged and blocked
by creatures sinister and sleek.
Let us praise the river stones
whose dignity remains intact,
despite the ravages of floods and drought.
Let us praise all things great and small,
for the hundred-thousand ways
our days are measured out.

Wednesday Vignette is hosted by Anna at Flutter and Hum.  Click here to join the party.

  2. Rabbits are just too cute. Seattle's Green-Lake neighborhood is heavily populated with them. A huge black bunny (bigger than your dogs) was resting on a parking strip as I drove by. Like you said, in other people's gardens... I love them.

  3. I've seen a woman in our neighborhood walking her enormous bunny in a child's pram. She stops every so often and takes it out on a leash and lets it have a sniff around. It's the strangest sight. Great poem, thanks for sharing it and its writer's blog.

  4. Cute bunny! Like you, I prefer bunnies (and peacocks, raccoons, and coyotes) in other people's spaces. I don't deny them entry (I doubt I could if I wanted to) but I do encourage them to wander back into the canyons around me.

  5. So much nicer to see bunnies when they are not in our gardens. Lovely poem.

  6. And caught in the act of munching, too. Rodents in the garden are never a good thing!

  7. Rabbit = Devils spawn. I used to like rabbits but this winter was the end of our relationship.
