The Space Needle with Seattleites, easily identified because they don't have umbrellas, they're looking for a Starbucks, and their skin appears green from the moss growing on them.
A four-hundred foot dragon.
That's a lot of happiness.
It makes me tired just thinking of all the work it takes to put these together.
Thirty-foot panda.
So many huge walk-through lanterns.
The trunk of this tree is one of the fair rides.
There were a number of vendors selling and creating Chinese artwork.
One of my favorite things was the way they'd lit the wooden roller coaster supports.
Something for Danger.
Spring Festival.
Bamboo Shoots for Alan.
There were Chinese acrobats and other entertainment on the stage every hour and fireworks on New Year's Eve.
All in all an enjoyable way to spend an evening. If you'd like to attend, the festival will stay at the fairgrounds until January 14.
I love the dragon. You have a light festival, we have the rose parade, something I've attended just once, when I was 12. The light festival looks less crowded and more fun.

ReplyDeleteWhat an exuberant lantern show. I wish the slugs and snails in my garden could light up in different colors... the display signs crack me up: they read like a cookie fortune.
DeleteI was confused at fist, about whether this was indoors or out. That's alotta lights.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun! Is this at the Puyallup fair grounds?
ReplyDeleteIt is at the Puyallup fair grounds.
DeleteWhoa that looks fun! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWow, pretty amazing display... I can't even imagine it!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a colorful show! I have seen it advertised, but had no idea just what it was.
ReplyDeleteThe English translations on the signs are pretty funny.
May the Moon Fairy with shame and beauty wish you Happy Anniversary! Santa Claus of classic image, opening hands on both sides!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you had a nice time at Lantern light festival, Peter. Congrats to your anniversary!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so bright and colorful, I watched scrolling them up and down. I liked the white-blue vase and dragon.
Wow! We certainly don't have anything like that in my area of Florida. How much fun for kids of all ages. It reminds me of a coloring book come to life. :D
ReplyDeleteWow! That is quite the event. My favorite is the red lanterns. Nothing like it here in size or color. Loved your description of folks from Seattle.
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great way to get out and celebrate, and just a great way to get out for a night. I was hoping a lantern fest would find its way closer to here but no luck yet.
