This facade ornamentation to the left of the entrance always catches my eye.
The official and very friendly greeter was on duty.
I'd stopped by to get some kiln pins for one of my kilns and inquire about repair on another. A few years ago, papers were developed that don't burn off at temperatures required to fuse glass. These can be cut or torn and combined with each other and glass paint and fused between pieces of glass to create interesting effects like these examples on display.
Linda at Each Little World has recently posted some of her great collages recently. Her posts and these papers have made me think more about incorporating paper elements in glass.
Glassline paints, developed right here at Clay Art Center are now displayed by the entrance to the restrooms. Wouldn't it be fun to make something like this for one's garden?
Speaking of Linda's inspiration, here's another shot of my red room ready for it's inaugural get together. Candles are lit and the guests will be arriving any minute.
Happy weekend all!
The greeter is adorable.
ReplyDeleteDrama! So much drama in that gorgeous dining room.
ReplyDeleteThat arch is fabulous! And your dining room looks ready for a sumptuous repast, followed by a seance.
ReplyDeleteThe first picture made me think today's post is about chocolate... it looks like the biggest chunk of chocolate ever.
ReplyDeleteSo king Tut is a greater for your soiree... how fun.
Wow, Peter! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all that link love! Your red room turned out perfect and I think the guests will be impressed. Saw an interesting collage exhibit today with very geometric images, lots of Japanese papers that were transparent and gouache and pencil additions. So many ideas, so little time. That doorway clay framework is stunning. Since it could not live outdoors in my WI garden, I am saved from trying to figure out how to buy it.
ReplyDeleteI definitely want one of those ceramic arches for my garden. What an entry it would make. Also one for the house entry.
ReplyDeleteI can see that everyone is going to have a great time at your place tonight. Wowza
Lots of cool clay stuff, and that red room! Wow!
ReplyDeleteYour lamp and candle lit red room looks great! Do you like it as well under daylight conditions?
ReplyDeleteI really like the paper/stained glass artwork. One of these days I'd like to incorporate more stained glass into the interior looking out into the garden. Your red room is pretty impressive, too!
ReplyDeleteAt first glance, I thought it was a large chunk of chocolate in the first picture... alas its not.
ReplyDeleteI will be interested to see how you incorporate paper to your glass art. The sample you show is very cool, and I love collages.
Your red room looks spectacular and I'm sure your guests were wowed.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of collages. I hope you have great experience with adding paper to your glass work.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. Interesting about how paper can be incorporated into stained glass.
