Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Happy Halloween

From the whole gang!  Which witch is which?

May your Halloween be frighteningly full of treats!

May all of your tricks be fun.

For you history buffs, here's a link to an interesting article about the history of this harvest celebration.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we'll be having the first rain-free Halloween in eleven years.  The day will be sunny and early evening temperatures are predicted to be in the fifties.  No frost on the pumpkin so far this year.
Some years we leave the lights on and hand out candy, other years, we're lazier,  close the curtains, and pretend we're not home.   I hope you enjoy the day whether you celebrate the holiday or not!

  2. So what will it be tonight? Festive candy peddlers? Or Grinch-like peeps hiding in the dark? Happy Halloween...either way.

  3. Happy Halloween! We've gotten fewer and fewer trick-or-treaters each year since we moved here. Last year we got none at all. Maybe the good weather will bring out a few. I'll definitely buy a few candy bars just in case. Great collection of witches!

  4. Happy Halloween, Peter!
And I hope you get the creeps! I already did when looking at your pictures. The kids from my little village already came to me for trick-and-treat.

  5. We have candy and Jack-o-lanterns, but we don't expect many, if any, trick-or-treaters. We gave most of the candy to the grands already.
We enjoyed this last of the sunny, mild days, and finished up a few more jobs in the garden.
If it rains, maybe we can rest!
    Happy Halloween!

  6. Cute decorations! Hope you had a great Halloween. We live on a Trick-0r-Treat destination street. All the old homes light up and decorated make for a fun time. Sadly the little and big kids were there with umbrellas because of the rain. That did not stop them. We went thru 40 bags of candy. Thinking will get 60 bags next year!
