Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette

Oh my gosh, how can it be October already?  These two are alarmed.

Some of us are no longer surprised by how quickly time passes.
Both are part of the ghoulish seasonal presence at Watson's Nursery.

Wednesday Vignette is hosted by Anna at Flutter and Hum.

  1. Trift stores have been pushing Halloween as soon as the 'back to school' sales were over in early September. I wish I had a clever idea for a costume that didn't require too much effort.

    1. How about a rubix cube? Square box, black tape, a little paint...

  2. Love the pile of skulls! And the old lady in the white dress is my doppelganger!

  3. My favorite time of year! Who knows - maybe I'll actually manage to get some decorations up this year... At least it goes on the list of aspirations... sigh!

  4. I certainly am of the age where time is whipping by. The weather suggests the gardening season is still here but my energy level sinks as the light goes. But bulbs are in the mail so I better get cracking.

    1. It does become increasingly difficult to muster up motivation to do much as the days get shorter.

  5. As I recall, one Orange County garden center kicked off its annual Halloween shop at the end of August! And their Christmas boutique opens this coming Friday! Now that's truly frightening.

  6. Please don't let me think about it how fast time flies! Otherwise I will soon look like that woman in your second picture! :)
October is still a nice month, my worst months in the year are January and February. And yours?

    1. I'm with you, January and February are difficult. I love autumn and the holidays but once the new year hits with short cold days and spring seems distant, it's sort of depressing. Luckily, the garden begins providing camellias, snowdrops, hellebores, and a few other winter blooms in February that keep me sane until March.

  7. We've decorated inside for fall and Halloween and this weekend we are doing the front of the house. I really enjoy fall!

  8. I haven't been motivated to decorate for the fall yet, but now the weather is suddenly cooler. Autumn is OK, but as you say...time flies too fast!

    1. I'll put out my glass and fabric pumpkins soon and take real pumpkins to school for my kids to paint and carve. Fall is a great time for all sorts of fun with kids.
