Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

An Autumn Visit to Todd's Nursery

Each October, after visiting the pumpkin patch, we stop by Todd's Nursery and I vow to visit again in the spring and summer but somehow never make it.  Todd's is a large nursery with lots of lovely areas to stroll around and explore.  See previous visits here, here, and here. On this day, we'd just attended the Glass Eye Sidewalk Sale, Fleur de Lis Garden Statuary, and the pumpkin patch and I wanted to get home to do a little gardening so I didn't wander as much as usual.

Once again, I found myself wondering why I don't visit this great nursery more often.

Todd's does autumn beautifully.

Shabby chic birdhouse.

Every bird needs a lake house, right?

Unless your birds prefer a country cabin getaway.

There was a sign advising that customers should ask for help with the cacti.

This table and stools had me drooling.  Fun to look at but when sitting at the table on the stools, where would your legs go?

The red culms of Fargesia jiuzhaigou are gorgeous & it almost jumped into my cart but I'm kind of out of space.  In reading more about it after I got home, I learned that it's slow growing and does well in containers.  Wonder if they still have it?

'Sugar Thyme' flowering crabapple is lovely.

No visit to Todd's is complete without saying hello to the happy koi in their pond.

May your road lead you to wonderful places this weekend!

  1. That place looks great! I love the big, beautiful bamboo grove! Jiuzhaigou is a really beautiful smaller bamboo. They are slow. I saw Jiuzhaigou 'GenF' at Bamboo Gardens in Oregon, which is supposed to be taller than Jiuzhaighou 1 (probably what they're selling at Todd's) and they were still under 5 feet tall and about as wide.

  2. That table and stools are adorable, but style without function... today's post makes me want to visit the West Seattle nursery before work. I'll get my plant "fix" and check their bamboo offering. TGIF

  5. That is a fabulous looking place to visit. I always enjoy the perfectly curated displays at nursery's. I feel so inspired and then I go home and feel like crap because I cannot duplicate that type of cute-ness to save my life. Sigh.

  6. Like you no place for your legs around the eggy table. The seats could be interesting benches in the garden. What with all of the nurseries in your area I can see why you have such interesting plants and decorations for your garden.

  8. Loved the fancy birdhouses. I wonder if any of those would lure the finches from nesting behind the outdoor light on the back patio? Have a great weekend, Peter!

  10. Whoa, that was a busy, full day! I can't imagine you had much time for actual gardening when you got home, given how short our days are now. Todd's is very close to me, and I don't know why I don't visit there more often too. They need a cafe, so I can go there for lunch or coffee and then shop.

  11. Thanks for sharing Todd's. I had to look it up because it sounded familiar. I see that it is "out there" for us, but we did pass it on the way to some open gardens this summer. I do believe.

  12. That round table would call for some serious manspreading.

  13. You come up with some absolutely fantastic nurseries/gardens. They are always a treat!

In the 4th photo a carved wooden piece that looks like a woman with her hand up to her face caught my eye, upper left corner.

Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady

    1. Looks like fun. This is a good time of the year to walk around and plan for next year. Haven't been to a garden mart or any place in months. Don't think there's much going on here but I should look.
