Winter is almost over so it's time to celebrate spring. A different arrangement had already been planned. During the same thrift store visit, this little square vase hopped into my cart.
I'd been wanting to give this "Perfect Arranger" since Alison and I bought them at the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival.
It just fit.
Forced hyacinths and tulips came from our local everything store. My own tulips and hyacinths are potted up but none got brought in to bloom early.
Narcissus 'Tete-a-Tete' came from my garden where they're currently blooming.
The "Perfect Arranger" worked well but because the fit in the vase was so tight, the wires didn't move apart as easily to accommodate fatter stems as they would have in a larger container.
Winter gives way to spring and a new gardening season begins. The lawn got mowed for the first time this year. Hooray! It's begun in earnest.

Love those new vases and your new perfect arranger. Alas, spring is still just a tease here. But a week of daytime temps in the 40s should keep things moving.
ReplyDeleteOh lucky you....3rd winter storm coming so no spring, no garden. Your beautiful vases shout spring so they help as I wait until April now for spring. March is going to be a wintry month, I am resigned to that fact.
ReplyDeleteYou make flower arranging look easy, Perfect Arranger or not.
ReplyDeleteI have an antique glass "arranger" of my Granny's, but too lazy to use it!
Attractive arrangements. I like the little square vase. I have two sizes of the Perfect Arrangers. They are useful.
ReplyDeleteWhen one of the US bloggers showed a Perfect Arranger a few years back I did look on eBay to see if I could find one, but sadly not - musy have another look! It has certainly helped you create a perfect arrangement although thta's not something you usuually have a problem with, Peter...! ;)
ReplyDeleteVa Va Voom! Spring bursts in with primary colors. That red vase is a pretty spectacular.
ReplyDelete'Tete-a-Tete' is such a cute daffodil: I have all of 2 (two!) blooms in my garden, hardly enough for a bouquet.
Wasn't this weekend just glorious!? Glad you got some garden time in.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see those bright spring colours...looking great with that dark backdrop.
ReplyDeleteI had the same experience with the Perfect Arranger. I need to try it in a vase where it doesn't fit so tightly. The tender stems of what I was trying to arrange got kind of frayed, so I decided not to use it. I love your very spring-like primary colors arrangement.
ReplyDeleteLovely selection. Intrigued by the perfect arranger! Wondering if I could upcycle something to copy it - wire wool maybe?
ReplyDeleteWonderful finds all around! I love the arrangement in primary colors.
ReplyDeleteI need to make more swings through the local thrift stores myself. Perfect Arranger looks like a great little gadget.
Nice transition from winter into spring, Peter. Love the cranberry glass vase, which almost looks Victorian.
ReplyDeleteYou already mowed your lawn? I've luckily got a couple more months before I have to worry about that. (Of course, the lawn we speak of is still under snow with more coming, but whatever... ;) )
I like both arrangements for different reasons. That red vase is wowza! Especially with the dried succulent flowers in it--love it! And who doesn't jump for joy over a vase full of spring flowers?!
ReplyDeleteI loved our plunge into spring this weekend and into Monday. Tomorrow we go back to reality, but it will feel different. We've tasted spring, and it's daylight after dinner!
ReplyDeleteMy vase has Tete-a-tete daffs supported by various shades of greens from the garden in an old green and white Roseville pottery vase, on a shamrock print quilted table mat. This week it's all about the green!
Your new vases are pretty and your arrangements are so very nice. I love the color in the small vase. The new gadget looks like it will be helpful. I can't wait to be able to get into the garden again. It is still too cold to do much. March hasn't been very spring-like yet.
ReplyDeleteGrass mowing and spring flowers! Hooray. That arranger looks useful and unobtrusive too. You must have enough vases for a new one every week. I look forward to seeing them all in turn.
ReplyDeleteA lovely spring vase Peter, and I like the sound of 'playing' in the garden! Hopefully we will catch you up soon, although my tiny Narcissi are only just showing buds. Wish we had thrift shops here - that first vase is really pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's begun in earnest.
