Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Jurassic Park?

Critters once thought to be extinct seem to be thriving at Bark and Garden in Olympia.

As herbivores, they must be very happy here with all the happy-looking plants.

Watch out, these teeth aren't made for foliage.  The good news is that it's still a bit cool and they don't seem to be moving very quickly being cold blooded and all. Still, it's a good idea to exercise caution. Come to think of it, I didn't notice any children or gnomes running around.

Flamingos looked a bit nervous. (Taste just like chicken.)

We escaped without becoming lunch for anyone but my wallet was suspiciously lighter; my car full of greenery.
It was a pleasure to visit this huge nursery  full of great plants. They'll appear in future posts as a plant-enamored gardener took a lot of pictures.  Happy weekend all!  May it be filled with garden adventures.

  2. What a fun post! I need a couple of pink flamingos, to go with my little flock of zombies. I wonder if they will be at the flower Show.

  3. Very entertaining. Huntington Garden has a self-guided dinosaur plant tour. I must take it some day.

  5. This was such a fun post from that very first photo. Those flamingos did look a tad nervous.

  6. Not all herbivores. Lucky you got out with your life. Hard to swallow while laughing, even for a croc.

  7. I love that Triceratops (even if it was just the head). I NEED one of those, and maybe a Pterodactyl or two, and possibly a Velociraptor for the bed along the street to keep a certain neighbor at bay (since it appears she's never going to sell her house...).

  8. I love Bark and Garden! I haven't been there in quite a while. I'll have to rectify that soon.

  9. The dinosaurs look at home in the nursery: very good placement. Funny commentary too, except the part about the lighter wallet... I can't wait to see what you couldn't live without :-D

    1. Actually, I just bought a camellia and a couple of heucheras. However, there was a 4 cubic foot bale of potting soil and a few bags of begonia tubers.

  10. That is one way to achieve gnome control.

I hope you got some really great plants!

  11. Hi Peter, funny post, cool nursery - although it could be thought of more as a jungle - and I love the tapestry.
