Fortunately, the garden still has a few blooms. Abutilons, a spent hydrangea, alstroemeria, and pelargonium blooms join some canna seed pods in this warm and spicy concoction.
A glass pumpkin joins the arrangement.
The chicken pope, created by Christopher Hoppin, a gift from friend and neighbor, Sandy, usually gets moved from this spot to make room for vases but today, he decided to stay and enjoy a little pumpkin spice himself. He's fairly heavy and I was too lazy to move him.
Have a blessed and pumpkin spicy week all and don't forget to click over to our host's blog, Rambling in the Garden, to see what Cathy and others have found in their gardens to bring inside this week.
After last week's awful hearing, I think we need some blessings for sure. I like pumpkin pie and bread, but not other pumpkin flavored foods. But pumpkin colors like those in your vase are gorgeous. Our new neighbor grew some big pumpkins that we can see from our windows.
ReplyDeleteOh, that hearing...Yikes!
DeleteLovely warm colours in your spicy mug. Strange how things jump into baskets. I have the same problem.
ReplyDeleteHeavens, jumping merchandise seems to be everywhere these days.
DeletePumpkin Spice and a Chicken Pope, a combination you will only find here.
ReplyDeleteAlways such unique posts, Peter. What exactly is 'pumpkin spice'? A spice to add to pumpkins, or is it meant to evoke the taste of pumpkins? And is there a significance in the chicken pope? I hardly dare ask some of these questions! Thanks for always bringing a smile to my face :)
ReplyDeleteWikipedia says, "Pumpkin pie spice, also sometimes called pumpkin spice, is an American spice mix commonly used as an ingredient in pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie spice is similar to the British and Commonwealth mixed spice. It is generally a blend of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and sometimes allspice and vanilla. It can also be used as a seasoning in general cooking." Over the last decade or so, it's become increasingly popular to add this spice blend to various drinks, especially coffee, baked goods, even ice cream. No significance in the chicken pope - he just made me laugh out loud when I saw him and was purchased for me.
DeleteAutumn is my favorite season when I can finally work in the garden again. For those who morn the end of summer, this delicious vase may help ease the pain.
ReplyDeleteI love autumn but it always means back to work for me and less time to spend in the garden and also that winter is on the way.
DeleteA lovely seasonal arrangement Peter - love the pumpkin. I hadn't even thought about pumpkin spice yet.... great idea and I may add some to my coffee tomorrow morning!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that you're also a fan of pumpkin spice coffee.
DeleteNow that's a mix I didn't expect! It seems very appropriate for October, though.
ReplyDeleteMaravilhosas imagens.
ReplyDeletejanicce.
Oh just the very thought of pumpkin spice has warmed me up Peter on an autumn day that started sunny and blue but soon clouded over and turned quite chilly. Thank you :) A most seasonal and cheery vase.
ReplyDeleteRainy but not yet really cold here. Still a warm cup of something spicy is a nice way to begin an autumn day.
DeletePumpkin spice is easier on the eyes than on the palate IMH. I'm definitely enjoying it here.

ReplyDeleteI love those bright autumnal colors. I do like pumpkin spice when it is in pumpkin pie. I drink my lattes plain, with chocolate on the side. :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely, pumpkin spice with a bit of cayenne.
ReplyDeleteA vibrant fall display, perfect nod to the season. I'm yet to embrace fall, at least in decorating, aside from my little white pumpkin gourds. I guess I'm still in denial. ;)
ReplyDeletethis is a lovely autumn vase - Love the reds from so many different flowers - and it also your china pumpkin is cute. Pumpkin spiced things are getting more and more popular in the UK.
ReplyDeleteI've got lavender and eucalyptus in my vase today :-) but also wrote about our wedding flowers as it's our first anniversary. love Bec :-)
Lovely flowers, but I swear, I must be the only person around who doesn't get the "pumpkin spice" phenomenon. I guess I'm just not that trendy.
ReplyDeleteGreat Chicken Pope! Could be the start of something bit: Chicken President, Chicken General, Chicken Astronaut ...
