Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette - A Well-Deserved Rest

After flying all over the world in one night, the reindeer settle in for a nice snack before settling in for a long winter's nap.  I hope you have time for a little rest and relaxation too.

Wednesday Vignette is hosted by Anna at Flutter and Hum.  Click here to join the fun.

  1. Those two almost look cuddly. Where do nurseries get their reindeer? Are there reindeer farms in WA state? A rent-a-deer?

  2. Good questions. We'll have to ask next time we're at one of the places that has reindeer for the season.

  3. They are so beautiful... And they must feel so misplaced in our climate - like a Husky might feel in Florida. I wonder if they provide A/C in their stables...?

  5. Damn. I was feeling pretty good about my R&R until I read Alison's comment. She sits that bar pretty high.

  6. So wonderful! Just before Christmas, there was a news segment covering reindeer that declared that Santa's team must all be females as male reindeer lose their antlers in late fall and only the females retain their antlers year-round. That's given me a whole new perspective on them - girl power!

  7. They look pretty well-rested, considering.

  8. A perfect vignette for today! I see in your last post that you got quite a bit of snow--perhaps as much as we have, which isn't much yet. (I'm not complaining, but I am complaining about the bitter cold.) I hope your plants will be OK, and I hope you're enjoying the holiday festivities!

  9. I was planning on some rest and relaxation today, but so far it hasn't happened. Maybe tomorrow?
