Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

In A Vase On Monday - More From The 'Hood

Just three tuberous begonia blooms make up today's offering. They're floating in a crystal bowl that was years-ago gift of neighbor and friend, Sandy.

Looking on is my newest head planter with Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Filifera' (Threadleaf Cypress) hair.  The head planter came from neighbor Peggy's downsizing estate sale.  Peggy and her husband are moving to smaller digs so a really cool 1900 bungalow with fabulous original wood work will be on the market soon.  Comes with fun neighbors.

Many thanks to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden for hosting the addictive In a Vase on Monday meme.  Click here to join the fun!

  1. Now that head planter has quite a head of hair....love it. I am missing my begonias this year....no blooms on mine but great foliage so yours brought a smile to my face!

  3. Those begonias look like roses. If/when I get my lath house, tuberous begonias are on the top of my list for a spot (or 2 or 3) on the shelf. I love the head planter - the cypress hair is perfect.

  4. Ooh, I would have snapped up that head planter if I had seen it first Peter!! I am not a begonia fan, so for me begonia heads without the leaves in tow is the best way to see them :) Thanks for sharing, Pater

  5. You have Snow White and Rose Red as well, and another friend too. Displayed perfectly here. What a wonderful head planter, I would certainly buy it if I saw something like that.

  11. Pretty bowl of begonias and I love the cypress hair! Someone is going to get lucky to have you as neighbors - envisioning great buyers for Peggy's place!

  12. That's a good August arrangement - not much effort required. That's important in the dog days.
