Is this some sort of rain/sun shelter? Relieved to find this so that he could finally use his newfangled cellular telephone, Tom warms his hand in the plastic "DEX" (whatever that means) attachment.
Oh, this new technology is baffling.
Wednesday Vignette is hosted by Anna at Flutter and Hum.
Oh, you're so funny, Peter! Where did you even find an old phone booth? You sure don't see many of those around anymore. I bet they have all been converted to tiny homes...
ReplyDeleteThis one was outside a gas station/convenience store in Bothell, not far from the Anderson School. We were surprised to see it. No phone or phone book, just the structure and the phone book cover. Might make an interesting piece of yard art. Your comment about tiny home conversion made me laugh out loud!
DeleteHilarious. It looks like Tom is hoping for a number transfer, from DEX through his hand, directly to the phone... How come it's not ringing?
ReplyDeleteI didn't think those booths still exist. Probably no one wants to spend the money to remove them.
You're right, this one, set in concrete might cost a bit to remove and, since it's not in the way of anything, it's probably easier to just leave it. Senior citizens like me need helpful videos. like this one. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7br54
DeleteThey finally took out the last one I knew of nearby. Oh progress...
ReplyDeleteHow quickly things change. Seems we don't need that coin in our penny loafers anymore to make an emergency call. Still can't find where you put the dime, nickels or quarter into the cell phone.
DeleteThese pictures are hilarious! You guys are so funny. Too bad you didn't have a sawsall with you, it would have made a great piece of garden art. You could have put a Superman doll inside it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Too bad it wouldn't fit in my car:)
DeleteIsn't it a little weird how public phone booths just disappeared? Did municipalities and phone companies just decide to pull them out all at the same time, sending out trucks to remove them in the dead of night? And where did they go?
ReplyDeleteProbably were sold as scrap at metal recycling places, when pay phones were no longer profitable. I didn't so much notice them missing but on seeing one, you remember when they were outside just about every large store and on some busy street corners. Remember the banks of pay phones at airports?
DeleteI love your sense of humor!!! Ha Ha Ha : )
ReplyDeleteGlad that you enjoyed the fun.
DeleteHa ha! Funny, I never even thought about phone booths disappearing. I guess they have?
ReplyDeleteI wondered if Tom was geocaching.
I seldom see phone booths anymore and when I do they, like this one, have no phone in them. Not geocaching, just saw the empty phone booth and had a laugh.
DeleteDefinitely need a Superman manikin for your garden to go along with a phone booth. Of course Superman would be protecting the phone booth from a big ole vine about to take over.
ReplyDeleteLOL.
