Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.
These are voluptuous! The only Pacific Coast Iris I have are the native ones. Many years ago I lifted a few clumps from the roadside. They've thrived and increased nicely. I love them.
I love them when they're in bloom but the foliage, especially the German Bearded ones doesn't do much for me so I appreciate them in the gardens of others. Was sorely tempted though.
They are such beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see them I think I should add them to my garden but where?

DeleteLovely! I have a weakness for these beauties but They don't do very well in our shady yard.
