Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

In a Vase on Monday - A Little Warmth

The steadfast and wonderful Cathy at Rambling in the Garden hosts In a Vase on Monday.  Click over to her blog to find her arrangement this week and to find links to those of other participating bloggers.

Although we haven't had a hard frost yet, the air is definitely feeling colder and we've had quite a bit of rain lately as well.  A bit of warm soup would really hit the spot so today I've chosen a miniature soup tureen to hold some warm-colored tropaeolum tuberosum blooms, a couple of abutilons and a bit of foliage from Acer palmatum 'Emerald Lace.'

Some fruit would round out the meal nicely so here's a salt cellar "fruit bowl" comprised of berries from Iris foetidissima, Arbutus unedo, Fuchsia, and Callicarpa.

It just wouldn't be teatime without  a warming cup of tea, would it?  A Christmas ornament teapot will do the trick.
Many thanks to Cathy for warming each week with this addictive meme!

    1. Glad you liked it. This time of year, when blooms are fewer, it's easier to fill miniature containers.

    1. Thanks, Linda. Your cold temperatures make soup sound really good right now.

  7. What a fabulous idea for an arrangement, a soup tureen. Lovely plant material to finish it.

    1. The tureen sits on a high shelf in the kitchen. It was so covered with dust that I pulled it down to clean it and decided to I'd might as well use it since it was already down and clean.

  8. What a warm and inviting vignette. The bouquet screams fall while it is cold as the proverbial witch here. Happy IAVOM.

    1. We're actually having rather moderate temps with no frost yet but the rain has finally returned with a vengeance.

    1. I'm afraid that the crisp days are a thing of the past for quite a few days as our rain has returned and the weather forecast is for it to continue for a while.

  14. Oh what fabulous glowing autumnal colours Peter. Your little soup tureen has warmed me up just looking at it. The fruit bowl looks as if it has been filled with little gemstones.
