This neon colored grevellea caught my attention.
Looking up. Yes, that's a rose in glorious bloom in March! Magic!
I'll be quiet for a while so that you can enjoy the pictures!
Arctostaphylos
Bergenia
Azolla (mosquito fern, duckweed fern, fairy moss, water fern) is an aquatic fern!
Aponogeton distachyos or Aponogeton distachyum, also known as Waterblommetjie (lit. trans. water-floret), Cape-pondweed, Water Hawthorn, Vleikos and Cape Pond Weed.
Lewisia
Primula vulgaris
Clematis 'Stolwijk Gold'
Phyllostachys vivax
What's so special about this violet?
It's growing in this Butia capitata! Magic I tell you!
Happy first day of spring; it's finally here! Hope you have a magical weekend!
So much pretty! I saw that aquatic fern for the first time last year. I think I need to add a small water feature on the deck and put some of that in it!
ReplyDeleteNice photos!
That water fern is amazing and Jungle Fever has had it for as long as I can remember. In full sun it turns red. I get a handful each season, throw it in a water pot and it fills it very quickly! You'll love it!
DeleteWow, what a cool place to work! Nice pics, Peter. I love the Lewisias especially...thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky enough to work there a few times a year when Jerry needs a day off. If I ever won the lottery, I'd have a nursery as it's so much chatting with people about plants and being around so many wonderful growing things.
DeleteBeautiful photos, especially the ones of the water drops. One good thing about our rain, it does make for some great pictures.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alison. Rain...it's a love/hate relationship, isn't it?
DeleteWorking on Saturday is unthinkable, unless you work in a nursery. How lucky are you?
ReplyDeleteThe close up of the grevellea looks like the most unusual blooming conifer... till you zoom out. Terrific pictures, Peter. Those ruffled sherbet primrose... I'm speechless. Lets hope for a few dry hours this weekend; last Sunday was a wet one...
Very lucky indeed! I'm all for a bit of good gardening weather this wekend!
DeleteAh Jungle Fever, you make me want to hop in the car and drive up for a visit.
ReplyDeletePut the petal to the metal sister, you'll be here in no time!
DeleteOh how fun you were able to spend some time there! Inspired with those Buddha heads positioned like how they did it, and interesting to see their butias planted so close like that which I quite like the effect of.
ReplyDeleteJerry, the one man show at Jungle Fever, is pretty amazing!
DeleteI laughed at your opening comment that you "got to work at Jungle Fever" but I'd feel exactly the same way if a nursery/garden center actually let me loose on their property (without a wallet in hand). You got great photos too. Happy Spring, Peter!
ReplyDeleteKid in a candy shop! Thanks, Kris & happy spring to you!
DeleteGreat photos, Peter! Raindrops on petals again today. But it's a spring rain now!
ReplyDeleteThe return of the rain and wind is making this feel a bit more like a typical March.
DeleteYou meant to say play, not work. What a beautiful place to hang out even if they made you actually do something. Lewisias -- Alison has one of those. They surely would die here.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it was play. I didn't have to do anything except talk with nice people about plants, my idea of heaven. Lewisias are particular about drainage but they might be able to take your heat.
DeleteA true jungle! I love that aquatic fern. Never seen them before.
ReplyDeleteThe water fern is a floating plant and not at all hardy here but reproduces so quickly during the growing season that a handful can cover a pond in no time unless you have fish, in which case, they'll usually eat it faster than it can reproduce.
DeleteOh how fun! What a beautiful place, and lovely photos too. The bark of that Manzanita is to die for, and that water "weed" is fabulous! Plant lust is rising...
ReplyDeleteIt's a cool place indeed! Glad that your plant lust has some more fuel!
DeleteOutstanding pictures on a rainy day! And believe me, when I FINALLY get up your way (my dream) I'll be heading for the "Jungle!"
ReplyDeleteY'all come on up! There are so many exceptional nurseries to visit!
DeleteBeautiful photos! Happy spring!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kacky! Happy Spring to you!
DeleteInteresting place!
ReplyDeleteYour images are inspiring, Peter! Bravo!
It is and interesting place indeed.
DeleteThank you Tatyana. That means a lot coming from you whose photos are always magical!
Some lovely plants; gorgeous primroses and lewisias and superb photos. I love the raindroppy ones.
ReplyDeleteYou call that work?
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are lovely, but the water beading on the foliage is even more so to me.
