Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Marylin's Garden

Nearly a month ago now, I got a call from Judy whose garden you may recall from here and here saying that I should go and see her friend Marylin's garden.  When you get set up on a blind date with a garden, you never know if you'll encounter a frog or a prince.  Fortunately, Marylin has both in her garden:

I tried to get a better picture of her princely dog (sorry if he's a she) but he kept moving.  What a sweet clown!
Ah the colors of late summer.  Marylin uses pots of colorful bloomers throughout her garden.

Love the foliar texture in this one!

Is there anything more cheerful in the shade than the deeply saturated colors of impatiens?

Lovely waterfall.

Of the several gorgeous hardy fuchsias in Marylin's garden, this was my favorite.

Mahonia in full berry.  I never tire of their beauty!

 Cool kinetic water feature.
Thanks Marylin for sharing your garden with us and for letting me play with your cute new kitten and your adorable dog!

  1. Such a pretty garden, and nice green grass. Isn't it a shame, that you always want what you can't have - nice green grass.

    1. Oh, but you can have agaves and palms and tree ferns and lts of members of the Proteaceae family, probably even Restios! I guess you're right, the grass is aways greener on the other side of the fence!

    1. I am lucky to be able to see so many gardens. The water feature in the last picture is pretty special. There's a fellow somewhere in the area who makes these & I've seen some really huge creations of his at shows that include real musical instruments and a variety of other recycled objects. Great stuff!
