Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette

Wednesday Vignette is hosted by the remarkable Anna at Flutter and Hum.  Click here to see her post and links to those of other participating bloggers.

When we, squinting mole-like,  emerged from our homes and work places yesterday, there was a strange blueness and a bright orb of some sort in the sky.  The familiar gray of the heavens had given way to this foreign thing.  Whatever it's called, it sure made a nice background for the blooming maple trees lining Ruston Way.   Sunglasses were soon retrieved from their winter storage places. Looks like March will be going out like a lamb.

We've had the wettest winter on record so the return of blue sky, always a treat in the pacific northwest, is especially welcome this year.

  2. Yes! That blue sky is glorious, isn't it? I'm planning to spend my week of sunshine out in the garden, finally.

  3. The bluest sky you've ever seen, in Seattle. Or Tacoma.
    Such a welcome sight!

  5. I can still remember listening to a local weather report while I was visiting Seattle on a business trip years ago. The forecaster referred to the possibility of "sunbursts" during the day. This did not compute until I likened it to events equally unlikely in southern California: "cloudbursts"! I'm glad you're enjoying sunny skies at last. Please send that pesky rain down here.

  6. I've only been to Seattle twice, but both trips must have been timed perfectly because it was sunny most every day. I know the feeling though, that blue just lifts you up!

  7. On this gray day in Wisconsin, I welcome your blue sky! I know what you mean--even a short burst of sunshine brings smiles to human faces and happy chirping from the songbirds. Great vignettes!

  8. I'm enjoying helping my parents out with things here at there place but REALLY wish I was home to enjoy this weather in my own garden.

  9. So many things to get used to with warmer weather... I was out doing a planting for someone in the hot sun, completely forgot to drink, and came home sick as a dog from dehydration. Yikes - while beautiful, hotter weather means keep up on your water intake. I learned that the hard way!

  10. Love the second photo - ocean, sky, mountains, and green trees. Could be a postcard from Washington State.
