Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette - Texture

Walking through the park  yesterday afternoon the bark of  of an old Populus x canadensis caught my eye.  Over a hundred years of life in a city park through storms and fair days has caused the bark to become interesting and beautiful.    That's what our faces become as we age, interesting and beautiful.

Anna at Flutter and Hum hosts Wednesday Vignette.  Click over to her blog to see what's caught her eye this week.

  1. Impressive texture but more impressive to consider its age, given it lives in a public park. I would be less surprised if it lived hidden in the woods.

  7. That is a great texture. Reminds me a little of a building we saw in Phoenix. It’s concrete exterior was designed to look like the ribs of a Saguaro.

  8. Beautiful image Peter. I like your sentiment related to us as we age, 'interesting and beautiful'. We are all unique, one of a kind, human beings, living life as it is given to us.

  9. Ha! I needed to hear that! I'm looking more like a bark-y old stump by the month. If that's what I look like, I'm good with it. LOL!

  10. Hello Peter! I've been running in circles again. The tree has very attractive bark. I love to savor your posts like a good book, and binge read them. Time is short right now, but I look forward to my binge.
