Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

It's Poinsettia Time Again!

From Molbak's a couple of weeks ago come these examples of the most-purchased plant in the industry.

Love them or hate them, they're back.

Molbak's has a dizzying array of varieties all beautifully displayed.  How delightful to admire the bright colors and contemplate hauling my collection  out of the basement for the season. Nah, I'd have to vacuum and dust first.  Yikes.

Maybe some elves will come by and decorate for me.

Forgot the name of this beauty.

Princettia Pink

Pull out all the stops, the carnival of Christmas has begun even though it's still Advent.
Happy weekend all!

  1. They had some pretty peach-colored ones at Fred Meyer the other day. I was tempted, but resisted.

  2. I really like that pale one. The red ones only work if you are doing a full on red/green decor. This year I've decided to try to be more subtle. On the other hand, that tree full of plants is pretty nice.

  3. Oh!!! I like the one with the variegated foliage. I bought a small creamy-white one at Fred Meyer the other day. I'm contemplating buying a bigger one too, that I can cut up and use in arrangements. I guess reinfected myself with poinsettia-lust by hosting the challenge last year.

  4. That retailer has arranged them beautifully, and your photos make them look fabulous.

    Have a great weekend, Peter.

  5. I dispute that purchase every year but the poinsettias win more often than they lose. Enjoy your weekend!

  6. No glitter-covered ones? I see so many of those here... I should check the real nurseries this year and see what they have. Can't believe it's Poinsettia time already.

  7. Nooooooooooooooooooo, not poinsettias already.
That aside, I like the nostalgic hanging laundry on the line and the creamy pale plants below; Sweet.

  9. I have never seen so many different ones. The pale pink one is quite pretty but I find them hard to love.

  10. How can they keep coming up with new colors every year? Must be a mad scientist behind the curtain.

  14. The colors are all so beautiful. I think I would want to just pull up a chair and soak all the lovelies in. I can't pick a favorite, they're all gorgeous. (The wash hanging on the line is not nostalgic for me, it's a weekly reality, but it's fun to see it thought of as archaic.)

  15. What a beauty, Peter! I love most the deep pink ones. I did an experiment growing poinsettia in the garden during summer and now am waiting for its blooming. But I think better I buy new ones :-)

  16. This is so strange...ok what? I've been trying to comment on your posts for over a month now and can't , BUT can using my phone. I showed why on my last post. Dam, I really don't like using my phone, wish I could figure it out, it's where I'm automatically signed in but with you I'm not and can't . Ok, so on with Christmas . Just started decorating myself and I see you've been doing some shopping, you do have some great Garden marts where you live. Thanks, now I have to go check out what's in my neighborhood.
