Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

One last Christmas Stroll through Watson's

There's always something beautiful to see at Watson's

The Reindeer look a bit tired from flying around the world.

Ditched the sleigh until next year.

So any great colors and shapes of conifers.

The Tim Burton treatment for this tree!

Camellia sasanqua 'Yuletide' is such a gorgeous bloomer.  Too bad I usually kill them.  Love the bowed boxes of Boxwood.

While not particularly evocative of the holiday, ornamental kale and cabbages look wonderful all winter.

One of these Phormium 'Sundowner' rode in my cart for a while before it returned to it's place behind the Euphorbias.  Lovely color echo and foliage contrast!
Speaking of contrasts, poinsettia with white kalanchoe is interesting.

In some countries, chrysanthemums are strongly associated with death and it's considered a terrible social faux pas to offer them for any other occasion.  Probably not best to send one of these to your friends in France.

Didn't have the urge to bring one of these home but enjoyed looking at them.

This tree, decorated with Fisher-Price toys, brought a smile.

Hot cocoa and cutsey snowmen snow people.  Don't you feel all warm and cozy already?

Lastly, a couple of contemporary arrangements that are lovely.

Truth be told, I went back to get one of these rusty metal trees seen on an earlier visit.

I also visited the day after Christmas 50% off sale and these trees were all gone so it was fortunate that I got one when I did!  Hope you're all keeping warm.   We're having temperatures in the low 20's at night.  Brrr!

  1. Yes, it's cold out there this morning! Brrrrrr! I love the cage effect that they made with those yellow twig dogwood branches. I might try something like that with my red ones. I certainly have plenty of evergreen branches and cones as well.

  2. Warm and cozy visiting your nursery from here. Envy people who can get out to the after Xmas sales. I always tell myself I'll go after Megan's birthday on the 27th. But I still haven't ventured into a store. Love the rusty trees.

  3. Sales, oh ya. There was a time mom and I were out and about first thing on the 26th. Not so much anymore.

28 and windy here this morning, but at least there is sunshine. I am thankful for that.

    1. Thank goodness the wind has died down. I don't so much mind cold and calm but cold wind is no fun! I usually avoid going out after Christmas but I had to see if that big angel that looked like a carved wood antique was still at Watsons. Nope.

  4. I do all of my "window shopping" right here. Those two urns at the end are dynamite!

    1. Glad you enjoy window shopping here. It's great to get new ideas for seasonal arrangements either at nurseries or by seeing what y'all are coming up with for "In a Vase on Monday."

    1. I'm glad I got a rusty tree (actually two) before they were all gone! I saw the gorgeous seed pod vases you got & think they are fabulous!

  6. I love the Phormium-Euphorbia combination but I admit that I often return one or 2 things to whence they came before checking out at nurseries and garden centers too. It makes me feel virtuous.

    1. That's a great combination. Isn't it funny the games we play with ourselves. If I put this one back, I can get two of those....

  7. I've killed a couple of 'Yuletide's myself--what is with those things? I love love love those rust trees--glad you got one. It's cold here too, down into the 50s.

    1. They seem kind of fussy. They want sun but not too much and, during their first year, they want water. I've kept them alive in pots but in the ground I tend to forget them and they dry out (oops.) Brr! That's the temperature in my heated greenhouse filled with plants that are hardy for you in the ground.

  9. Thank you for confessing your 'Yuletude' demise(s). Nice to know I'm not the only one. I love the yellow twigs tied together. I have a coral bark maple that needs trimming. I'm going to do this with them. Thanks for the inspiration, my friend.

    1. We could form a 'Yuletide' killers support group. Can't wait to see what you do with your coral bark maple twigs! Happy new year, pal!

  10. I love the Tim Burton Christmas tree. It does look a bit like it could have been a tree from A Nightmare Before Christmas. I absolutely adore those metal trees. That's the kind of art I'd have in my garden.

    1. Watson's has been doing that with trees big and small for the last couple of years & it is charming. Nice thing about the metal trees is that they could double as medieval weapons should a jousting tournament erupt in the living room.
