Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Good Bye Autumn

Although autumn doesn't really end until the winter solstice on December 21, it  feels like there is a distinct change at the end of November, the beginning of Advent, and that Christmas music EVERYWHERE....  It was sweet to see a few  autumn things.  O.K. they were on clearance tables but it was still nice.

Twins Madge and Marge insist on dressing alike for every event which drives their friends crazy!
This sweet orange kitty was happy sleeping on Halloween door mats.  I wondered if  she might be 60% off as well.
Goodbye cool crisp days and warm colors.  Adios pumpkins and gourds.  We'll see you again next year.

  1. I know there are formal days when season ends and another one begins but if you just base it on 'feeling' and change of scene, autumn is probably the shortest season of the four.

    1. Summer seems shortest to me but maybe that's because I love it so much.

  2. I can never tell when Autumn ends here in the PNW...last year it seemed to bleed right into spring!

    1. Remember that time in between when we had record breaking amounts of snow and a horrible ice storm that killed a lot of wonderful old trees and snapped the giant timber bamboo all over town? That week was the end of autumn/ beginning of winter. It was followed a week later by spring but there was that week.

  3. Watson's again, I do like seeing your photos from there. Out with the pumpkins and in with the tinsel. It does go fast and in South Texas there's very little autumn weather to begin with.

  5. Still a few brilliant leaves clinging to branches here and there, but yes...winter is nearly upon us.

    1. The Sweet Gums sure hold on to their colorful leaves for a long time. Ah winter... let's hope for a warm one!
