Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette Youth and Age

Wednesday Vignette is hosted by our pal Anna at Flutter and Hum.  Click over there to see her vignette  this week and find links to those of other participating bloggers.

Don't disturb the lady bug
Sleeping by the spider's web
And if you see a butterfly,
Don't try to catch it in your net

It's taken such a long, long time
To make this very special place,
Open up your soul and mind
To all it has to say

Be still, Take it in a while,
Feel the sunshine warm upon your face,
You'll feel when it makes you smile
Like you're welcomed to the human race

Everybody sees a part
Of what this life can really be,
No one sees like you can see
When you let your mind flow free

The wind is blowing through the trees,
A song that everyone can learn
And God is playing hide-and-seek
Every where you turn

Be still, Take it in a while,
Feel the sunshine warm upon your face,
You'll feel when it makes you smile
Like you're welcomed to the human race

Don't disturb the Lady Bug
Sleeping by the spider's web
And if you see a butterfly,
Don't try to catch it in your net

  1. Such a sweet capture, Peter, and great lyrics. We should all do what our kids do so well - truly see the world with unadulterated eyes.

  2. Thank you. I truly needed this post today, for various reasons. Very good advice, and I will attempt to follow it throughout this summer season of discovery. :)

  3. Beautiful! And your musical selection is, as always, just right. Takes me back on so many levels.

  4. Great photo: I can almost project myself into that little girl in the tree.
