Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette
I'm joining with my pal Anna at Flutter and Hum and her meme Wednesday Vignette. This week baby fir cones caught my eye.
The color and form are as interesting as any flower, yes?
I agree with you (and with Heather's sharp observation): there are some magnificent looking cones produced out there. I wish my plain pine tree in the back yard would hit me in head with more impressive looking fruit.
I love colorful cones! I've been thinking of adding a dwarf spruce with really pretty cones to one bed. I think next time I visit Tsugawa's it will have to come home with me.
Yep, if not more!
ReplyDeleteAs *any* flower? Not sure. As interesting as *many* flowers for sure! ;)
ReplyDeleteThey're fab. And such a pretty color.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. And they match the vest you're wearing in your masthead!
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely as interesting, if not more than some! Gorgeous photos.

ReplyDeleteLove these, and I'm thankful a neighbor had the good sense to plant a couple for my enjoyment!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. Is it an Abies koreana?
ReplyDeleteSow these at Hortlandia, but they were a little pricey for us. Not something you see every day, but when you do...worth noting.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! The pieces of cone look like little shingles. :)

ReplyDeletePretty pink! I'm not familiar with that meme; will have to take a look. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLovely! And your photos really capture the baby cones in all their glory!
ReplyDeleteSo cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat color!
ReplyDeleteReally pretty and yes, just as interesting as a flower!
