Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Rogers Country Nursery and Gardens

Do you ever pass a sign on a fairly regular basis on the way to somewhere else and promise yourself that you'll follow that sign someday?  For years now, on my way to Poulsbo, I've passed a sign reading "Tourist Activity - Country Nursery and Gardens - Next Exit."  Finally on Saturday, I decided to follow that sign and the nice lady on my cell phone GPS who is always telling me where to go.

I wasn't ready for how delightful this place and the people there were!

Even though it's nearly winter, this place is still full of great plants and fun and unusual merchandise.
Cool fountain with cut outs in the sides allowing a view of the bubbling water inside.

V.W. bus with a hinged top is great for outside but can't you see this in a teenager's room?  Blanket or summer clothes  storage?

Great tool storage shed!

There's that sign that we all love to see - 50% off!

Schefflera delavayi looking gorgeous.

Very tempting to buy this and put it in the staff  lounge at school.

Speaking of gorgeous, have a gander at this nice specimen of Daphne 'Briggs Moonlight.'

Heucheras always look great at nurseries and in other people's gardens!

Seems I cut the steeple off of the church atop this rustic cabinet.  Bad blogger!

So much to see at this nursery.  There are several red barn looking buildings, each containing different merchandise.  There was even a Christmas shop!

A nice big planted specimen of another of my favorite plants, Pernettya mucronata rubra,  made me smile!  Such a great evergreen shrub covered with these berries all winter and much of the summer. They hang on even as the pretty white flowers begin blooming.
More to explore.  I can't wait to visit again in the spring and summer!

Clever plant signage in the greenhouse!

There's even something here for those who may have angered the mob.

Dig the hand planter.
The first Camellia sasanqua 'Yuletide' I've seen this season.

The verdigris finish on this gazebo looked much better in person than in this image.

Have a great weekend and I hope that you have the opportunity to visit a place you've always meant to explore and that it turns out to be as wonderful as Country Nursery and Gardens.  For more information, click here.

    1. It's good to know that you've been there. I was starting to think that I just imagined the visit.

    1. The plant mobile takes me places. I have little control. The plant mobile and the lady in the phone are in cahoots!

  3. Looks like a fun place, but the first thing I think when I find a place with "high production value" like this is "I bet the plants are expensive". How were the non-sale prices -- reasonable?

    1. The plants were extremely reasonably priced I thought. I expect and am glad to pay a bit more at an independent nursery than I would at a box store but as far as pricing at the independents, this one was right in line with others in the area.

  5. I want that greenhouse, it looks like it would cover our entire lot!

    1. Wouldn't it be great to have a house inside a huge greenhouse? This one isn't quite large enough for your whole lot. Maybe we could drag away one of those cool new big glass houses at Watsons. That should do the trick!

  6. Unlike Mark and Gaz, I was going to warn you not to blindly follow the voice of the nice lady on the GPS... although it turned out great this time.
I love the watering wheel: very 'Little House on the Prairie'. If only I had a large enough garden to accommodate it (which I don't). Do they come in mini for a fairy garden? The yellow truck is very cute: did it end up in the teacher's lounge?

    1. The lady hasn't failed me yet, knock on wood. I bet that the water wheel is available in diminutive sizes! I so wanted that to be a yellow bus but since it wasn't quite, it didn't come and live at school.

  7. That's a wonderful nursery! What a great find. That VW wagon would and the colorful table and chair would have looked great in your greenhouse.

  8. I'll take the tool storage shed, please...even though only about a third of our tools would fit in there. My policy is to never listen when people try to tell me "where to go". I always assume it will be to a bad place. But the list of places to go recommended by you keeps growing.

    1. Wasn't that a cute shed?
People tell me to go there all the time too. On the bright side, I hear that it's a dry heat...

    1. It keeps us from the possibility of getting the least bit bored! Believe it or not there are still a few on the list that I haven't visited yet!

  11. Love the tool shed. Paint it blue, and Dr. Who could use it.

  12. You do know how to find these special places. I can't believe there was still a place new to you in the whole Puget Sound area.

  13. You have so many garden centres and nurseries to visit, too much temptation, I would have to be really strong willed with myself!

  14. That looks like a really great nursery! I love the water wheel. Definitely going on my list to visit when I get back to the PNW. Hopefully that's going to happen sooner rather than later. Working on it now.

  15. Love that hand planter too! A very interesting nursery. The shot with the red barn and the water wheel made it look like you were somewhere else entirely. Must have been a fun one to explore.
