Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

May Snow

It starts with just a few pink clouds in the sky.  Innocent enough, even fun.  Say, does this one look like an owl to you?  Teddy Bear?  Cat?

This one's definitely the head of  a bird!

Then there are more and more of these clouds and less blue sky.  Hmmm.

Before you know it, the air is full of snow falling everywhere!

The excitement builds as it begins to stick to the grass.

Then the sidewalks are covered.

All over town it's the same thing. Snow blowing in the wind, snow falling on passersby, snow everywhere.   The weather report didn't say anything about this.  Could it be part of the whole climate change thing?

 Now it's covering the streets!

Get out your sleds kids, they may just call off school!

I love this kind of snow!  How about you?

    1. Yes! Great for walking in and making snow angels but not so much for snowman construction.

  5. Certainly beats the snow they're having to deal with in other parts of the country...

  6. We were sitting in the car on a dark, blustery day and I actually mistook the blowing petals for snow (stranger things have happened).

  7. I love that kind of snow as well. I have no Kwanzans but I do have a Hally and she is snowing as I type.

  8. Pink snow is my very favoritest! Thank you for sharing the beauty with us. We have a street that is full of crabapples and pink snow, but it is where the traffic piles up and we have to move along on our travels, rather than stop and take photos. No place to park and no place to savor. Thank you so much!

    1. You are more than welcome! It's fun to capture these special times of year to share and it's fun for me to look back at earlier posts to remember.

    1. Doesn't make very good snowballs though, so the snowball fights are kind of silly looking.

  11. Shoot, for a second I was getting ready to extend my sympathies for a bout of awful weather, weather which might improve your ability to empathize with those of us living in the Midwest. I really like the "bird" in the second picture, makes me think of a pink Big Bird.

    1. Having moved from Alaska years ago, I do sympathize with you. I also revel in the larger plant palette we get to enjoy here, the relative lack of winter, and the cool dry summers. Of course, I dream of moving just one zone higher.

  13. One of my favorite parts of spring - And spring here has finally caught up with you guys entirely, as those big frilly pink cherry blossoms are beginning to "snow" here as well!

  14. This pink snow is so pretty! It's a pity they don't remain as clouds longer for prolong enjoyment. The petals should made good mulching and composting material. Enjoy your spring snow!

    1. Their fleeting bloom time makes us appreciate them while they're here. Walking beneath trees snowing beautiful petals is a magical experience.

  15. I lived in Colorado 6 years, there it would have been the cold white stuff! You had me going there, what a sense of humor! Those must be the most beautiful cheer blossoms just for the frothiness.

  16. We have had the worst winter in 50 years here in Britain, with more snowfalls this winter here in London than the last 10 years combined. A bit more of the pink snow and less of the white would have suited me just fine :-)
