Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Twisted

At the Northwest Flower and Garden Show, one of my favorite vendors (o.k. I loved them all!) was Dean Tile and Design.  Carol Rose Dean is the creator of these cool pieces.  Beauty with a little bit of a dark side.  What's not to love?

So many cool head planters!
If your taste runs closer to that of  of Imelda Marcos, there were shoes aplenty.  Also notice the sweet swtichplates in the background.

As the name implies, there were lots of beautiful tiles as well!

Joni Mitchell singing "Twisted" for your listening pleasure as you continue to look.

"And you know, two heads are better than one!"

Three are pretty good too!  So many cool pieces here that I was giddy.  It didn't hurt that I had just met Alison who is also a fan of Carol's work.

Finally, gardening for couch potatoes!  Sunny window,  sprinkle of water once a month & voila!

What would you plant in this?  (Hey, notice that there are more tiles in the background.)  There were lots of gorgeous tiles but I kept finding these cool piecs that made me giggle.
I think that a nice trip to Whidbey Island to visit Dean Tile and Design would be a wonderful day trip!

If you spend too much money, you can always say that the devil made you do it!

There were lots of characters from the Wizard of Oz represented.  Dorothy looks concerned.

Seems that it's time for me to head on out. I hope you have the best day ever!

  1. I kind of wish now that I'd bought a pair of those cool shoes during the show. I love her tiles, I have a couple of them hanging on the gabions in the gravel garden.

  2. Oh I do like them, especially the heads and the trio of smiling suns (?). The colours on the pieces are fab too!
