Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette
Wednesday Vignette is hosted by Anna at Flutter and Hum. Click here to see what's caught the eye of other participating bloggers this week.
I was thinking of a comparison between the way leaves in the wild fall and make a carpet of compost on the ground to how city leaves are blown, raked, tossed about, bagged, etc. Then I thought of how all leaves, no matter where they are, fly all over the place and face an uncertain future. Leaves - people - uncertain times - persistence of life. Did the post way in advance and never got around to writing more.
The dry days of autumn are so exuberantly colorful. You are wise to enjoy the leaves before they turn a brown, soggy mess!

DeletePerfect!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful contrast! I love autumn's bright leaves.
ReplyDeletePretty! I'm still waiting for red foliage (of any kind) here.
ReplyDeleteThe single leaf on the gray background (with shadow) makes for a dynamic composition.
ReplyDeleteShort and sweet... and quite perfect.
