Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wordless Wednesday; Something else you may not see every day.
Well, bears don't usually come around during the day when there are lots of people around. However, that's one reason that many Alaskans carry firearms. People are killed by moose and bear so it's best to be prepared.
Just catching up here Peter-- how wonderful to have this native son view of gardens in Alaska, and especially the one you knew years ago. I could really use some of the stones and also the big mountains in the previous post. But I'm glad our deer are short.
I do miss seeing those beautiful mountains out my window every day! Short deer can do quite a bit of damage too! While I'd love to live out in the country on some acreage, I'm thankful that deer don't visit my part of town.
Definitely unique!
ReplyDeleteYes.
DeleteWe see similar cages to protect trees from deer but never that close to a building or up that high.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely different.
Alaska's a different place!
DeleteAnd how do they protect the grocery store from bears?

DeleteDarn mooses.
ReplyDeleteIt's very clever!
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteMoose munching??? That's frontier living for you.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see moose at Costco parking lot: a great idea for a post right there.
I like a little more distance myself!
DeleteMoose stroll through parking lots?! What prevents them from entering the store?
ReplyDeleteThey just can't figure out those revolving doors.
DeleteUrban mooses? What next?
ReplyDeleteUrbane ursine?

DeleteWell, that puts my deer problem in perspective.
ReplyDeleteI feel so lucky not to have either deer or moose munching on my garden!
