Hopefully the little native frogs will stay in the lower yard where there's fish-free water for their eggs!outlawgardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08273973572989510382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6598416695566325151.post-46288351456168860182014-11-04T05:29:11.421-08:002014-11-04T05:29:11.421-08:00Peter, the "introduced" bullfrogs in Sun...Peter, the "introduced" bullfrogs in Sunriver, Oregon have become a major problem because they eat the smaller native frogs. Bullfrogs are rapidly increasing in number and the native population is rapidly decreasing. The wildlife people are now working on removing all the bullfrogs, but they lay so many eggs that there is concern the bullfrogs will eventually winn the battle.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17771178723741891801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6598416695566325151.post-46180667263788310202014-11-01T07:08:42.119-07:002014-11-01T07:08:42.119-07:00Thanks, Lisa, they are cuties! Thanks, Lisa, they are cuties!outlawgardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08273973572989510382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6598416695566325151.post-49745542231327138612014-11-01T07:08:17.759-07:002014-11-01T07:08:17.759-07:00Lizards are fun too! When I was a kid, our backyard was full of them but, over time, they seemed to disappear, perhaps as a side-effect of the increased urbanization of the valley I grew up in. I've never seen frogs in any of the gardens I've had as an adult, which is a sorry state of affairs. I do have lots and lots and lots of lizards, however.Kris Petersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07097260283693156795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6598416695566325151.post-23489447509773979792014-10-30T20:10:11.839-07:002014-10-30T20:10:11.839-07:00If the bats don't get the bugs at night, the f...If the bats don't get the bugs at night, the frogs will get them during the day!outlawgardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08273973572989510382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6598416695566325151.post-40200284042349072812014-10-30T20:09:17.739-07:002014-10-30T20:09:17.739-07:00Hooray for amphibians in our gardens!Hooray for amphibians in our gardens!outlawgardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08273973572989510382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6598416695566325151.post-64159382278039535642014-10-30T20:07:35.065-07:002014-10-30T20:07:35.065-07:00Thanks for the link, Jean! These are rated as sufficient to heat the whole space. I'm planning on leaving the thermostat set at 40 degrees so the heaters will probably not go on for at least another month. It wasn't very expensive and it's a relief to not have to monitor the temperature out three as closely as I did with the little glass room off the back porch where I used to keep a lot of the tender plants for the winter. There was no air circulation out there and things sometimes looked pretty sad by the end of winter. outlawgardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08273973572989510382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6598416695566325151.post-88532411576834102382014-10-30T19:59:22.662-07:002014-10-30T19:59:22.662-07:00Crickets have a nice song, too.
