Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Stopping by Willow Tree Gardens and Interiors

I just happened to be in a certain neighborhood last Saturday and decided to stop by Willow Tree Gardens and Interiors (previous visits here) This sign had nothing to do with the decision!

It's always fun to see what's happening with  the produce truck.

And it's really producing!

Look at all those black tomatoes.  Have you grown/tasted them?  Do you like the flavor?

Hedychium 'Tahitian Flame" was sure tempting but is only hardy to zone 9.

Their Acer palmatum 'Bloodgoods' were far ahead of mine in coloring up for fall.  Mine  still has the reddish green, pre scarlet color.

So much to love about fall.

Kitty, who would only look directly at me while I was patting him, wouldn't stay still long enough for me to get a good picture.  This is definitely an autumn colored cat!

Ornate wrought iron always catches my attention. I don't own any and it probably wouldn't go with  the wild jungle outside our door, but there's something special about it's old fashioned look.

In the native plant area, Mahonias were in full and beautiful berry.

A castor bean in their garden is producing seed.

Lots of great things to fill pots or annual beds with for winter.

There's always an agave!  At 50% off these would be a good buy but how many Agaves 'Jaws' does one person need?

The "Interiors" part of the store is all decked out for Halloween!  The amount of work that goes into all of these displays is incredible.  Very soon, the Halloween stuff makes a quick exit and the huge display of Christmas trees and decorations will take up one of the greenhouses and the interior of the store.

As a magpie, I do love shiny objects!

Happy Friday and happy weekend all!  It's going to be an exciting one for me and hopefully on Monday I'll be able to show you why!

  1. Happy Friday to you too! I love wrought iron too, but I'm not sure where I'd put a bistro set either.

    1. It seems so victorian or New Orleans or something.

  2. I could do with one of those 'Jaws', still on my wishlist...

    1. Well, you should fly over for all the sales! Of course the cost of sending all the plants home might defeat the savings part.

  3. I've grown black tomatoes this year! Not the round cherry ones but the oblong shaped. They look like miniature eggplants, and have an orangey bottom. Perfect colors for the season and they taste great. There is a new verity of black tomatoes called Smurf something but I couldn't find it in nurseries in the spring. Maybe next year.

  5. $13.99 for an agave! It's almost worth a flight up north...

  6. Hmmmmmm. That's a bit of a cliff-hanger..... I've never tasted a black tomato. Sounds interesting. And I can't think of a place where the wrought-iron bistro set wouldn't look lovely. Maybe the contrast in your jungle would be just the "thing"!?! The lovely blue Mahonias berries are my personal favorites in this post - I'd enjoy a visit to Willow Tree. Looks like an interesting place.

    1. It is a fun place and they always have good plants and really cool stuff for inside. Next time you come to the Pacific Northwest, I'll make a list of nurseries to visit!

  7. The darker the tomato, the better the flavor.

    Get 'er Done!

    1. Good to know! Although 'Sungold' is bright orange and tastes pretty dandy.

This weekend is the tear down!

  8. "how many Agaves 'Jaws' does one person need?"...an infinite number? They grow so big in the ground in just one or two seasons. I would have bought them both...

  9. Sweet Autumn kitty!
Why don't our nurseries have half off agaves? At that price, both 'Jaws' would have gone home with me!

O.K. I'll leave work and go straight to the nursery!

  10. What a fun place. No, we haven't tried black tomatoes. Strange.
I bought a few flowering kale and winter pansies today for my front porch pots. As of today the jungle of scraggly geraniums is gone. I'm enjoying the tidy look there.

    1. Bye bye geranium jungle; see you next summer! I always think of you when I see fancy leaved geraniums because the big porch pots of them were the first things we saw when we visited your garden.

  12. I've never tried black tomatoes, but I want to now! And I wish I could go to a nursery and see 'Jaws' at all, let alone 50% off! I don't even have one, woe is me... hehe

    1. I have wanted to try them since first seeing them a year or two ago. Next summer will be the year! Sorry you don't have 'Jaws,' it's a great agave!

  14. One 'Jaws' in my garden is plenty, but that is a very good price. I like the display of the Tuscan kale with the rusty carex. Nice fall sales to go with the fall color!

  16. Neat store. Here, the fall color of Maple leaves is brown.

    Awaiting Monday excitement.
