Although this could very well be a picture of me finding a new treasure at a favorite nursery, it's actually an illustration by David Catrow for a children's book called Plantzilla.

Wednesday Vignette

Two vignettes this week, both from Branches Garden Center which is only eleven minutes from where I work and open until 6:00 p.m. Why hadn't I stopped here before?  Look for a full post soon!

This gate looks very much like operational one that my eldest sister had in Alaska years ago.  It looks quite interesting mounted on the bleached wood siding on this shed. We're not old, we're shabby chic!

Purple and orange make a great color combination and is a great reminder that there are only a few more days to get entries sent to Ms. Danger Garden for her Ornamental Kale and Cabbage Challenge. Click here for more information.

Okay, so I lied.  Here's a third vignette, my entry in the O.K. & C. challenge.  I'm thinking of adding a concrete female head planter with a rather disgusted look on her face and calling it "You men are so transparent."

Wednesday Vignette is hosted by blogging pal Anna at Flutter and Hum.  Flutter on over there and see what the Hum is all about!

  1. I think my grandparents had that same gate in Chicago, or at least very similar. Get some vines growing on that thing!

  2. That's a beautiful gate! I'm looking forward to your post about Branches. It's a nice little neighborhood garden center.

  5. OK, you win! I'm going back now to look at that last photo more closely to see all the details. Very impressive! Excellent metal gate! There's a place about an hour north of me that specializes in used metal objects and lawn ornaments. Now I need to figure out what I want and where to put it. You've given me inspiration!

  6. I like all the repetition of plants and colors in the fall/winter version of your danger gardenette. It's such an appropriate stage for your response to Loree's OC&K challenge.

  7. I would love to have a gate like that to use as a trellis. Though of course then you wouldn't be able to see the gate.
